The Pattern Making Programme (PMP) is designed to close the critical skills gap in South Africa’s manufacturing sector, by developing industry-ready, technically skilled pattern makers. This intensive six-month programme enhances the technical capabilities of interns, equipping them with the practical knowledge and industry exposure needed to confidently step into pattern-making roles in a manufacturer.
Interns will learn to create accurate patterns from design sketches, utilise pattern-making software efficiently and apply sustainable practices in pattern making. Additionally, they will be able to collaborate effectively within a team and clearly articulate their ideas, contributing to them gaining employment in the field.
Working alongside experienced pattern makers, interns benefit from two weeks of classroom theory and two weeks of practical work experience every month, gaining hands-on experience and insight into real-world manufacturing processes, tools, and best practices.
Training is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Interns gain crtically-needed pattern-making skills, hands-on experience, and industry exposure, contributing to them gaining employment in the field.
