We are pleased to unveil our FY2024 Annual Integrated Report for the period 2 April 2023 to 30 March 2024, showcasing our impact investment progress in skills development, entrepreneurship and education.

In the 2024 financial year, Mr Price Foundation made a meaningful impact on youth development, championing responsible investment with the support of our valued partners.

We invested over R24 million in youth skills development, R8.7 million in entrepreneurship and R4.6 million in education as we seek to address the underlying causes of South Africa’s youth unemployment crisis.

JUMPSTART

We invested R24.2 million in retail skills development through our JumpStart programme, upskilling 7 252 unemployed youth, with 90% of them securing employment at Mr Price Group, SPAR and our other employer partners.

This means 6 571 youth have been taken out of the unemployment line and into employment.  These young people are now able to provide for their families, impacting around 32 745 people (calculated on a multiplier effect of 5:1).

UPLIFT

Through our UpLift programme, we invested R8.7 million into youth entrepreneurship, placing 154 entrepreneurson the path to small business success in townships, agriculture and waste management.

Our UpLift entrepreneurs generated R1.3 million in revenue, with 10 small businesses established. Our HandPicked agripreneurs harvested 1.47 tons of fresh produce, giving families access to better nutrition and generating collective revenue of R242 000.

EDURISE

Poor skills and education are the root cause of unemployment in South Africa. That’s why we invest significantly into improving education outcomes in lower socio-economic schools.

Through our EduRise programme, we invested R4.6 million into holistic education across 40 primary schools in KwaZulu-Natal, giving 25 214 learners  a brighter start in life and developing 62 educators in creative arts.

EduRise changed focus in the reporting period, adopting a narrow and deep approach to improving numeracy and literacy outcomes in Foundation Phase (Grades R to 3) at primary schools in Hammarsdale.

We are also pleased to have supported 77 NPOs with R437 000 in product vouchers redeemable at Mr Price Group businesses. An estimated 5 322 beneficiaries across South Africa’s nine provinces benefited through these NPOs, who share our passion for youth development and are aligned with our vision and purpose of unlocking tomorrow’s potential.

This is how we drive change in South Africa. We can’t do it alone!

We thank all our partners, donors and supporters for joining hearts and hands with us to create Hope4Youth

We look forward to fostering stronger partnerships, encouraging accountability, and inspiring greater support for youth development solutions in FY2025 and beyond.
