MRP Foundation has humbly taken on Madiba’s challenge to take action against poverty every day
“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” ― Nelson Mandela
One of the world’s greatest leaders, Nelson Mandela, believed in making the world a better place. We’re all called to join the global movement for good on Mandela Day (July 18) and celebrate its powerful message – that we each have a crucial part to play in spreading social justice and freedom for all.
For over a decade MRP Foundation has been dedicated to making everyday a Mandela Day. As a youth development organisation our mission is to invest in South Africa’s youth as they journey from school into a career, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and inequality. Our innovative programmes in education and skills development positively impact tens of thousands of youth daily around the country.
Madiba’s hope-filled message of ‘doing good together’ was strikingly illustrated by some of the learners from one of the MRP Foundation supported schools in KwaDukuza, St Christophers. A vibrant mural of Madiba’s iconic face was collectively painted and assembled, each individual square connected to create the masterpiece. Watch the video here.
Mandela believed we all have a vital part to play to make a lasting positive impact on our world. So this Mandela Day we ask you, what are you doing to take action against poverty and make everyday a Mandela Day?
If you share Madiba’s belief in making our world a better place you can make a tax deductible donation to MRP Foundation or SMS the word “mrpf” to 38417 and a donation of R20.00 will be made.
