Calling all heroes!

Are you up for a challenge? Then get creative and dress up as your biggest hero for the JumpStart Challenge 2023.

We can learn a lot from our local heroes – and our universal Superheroes.  Great heroes embody compassion and courage; and when they do good, heroes build stronger communities.

Anyone can be a hero. You don’t need superhuman powers to be a hero! When you join the JumpStart Challenge, and stand up against poverty and youth unemployment, you become a hero too.

Every rand raised by the JumpStart Challenge goes directly to Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart skills development programme.

JumpStart opens a world of opportunity for thousands of unemployed youth every year. When youth are empowered with new skills and opportunities for employment, they can break the cycle of poverty and inequality.

That’s why they’re heroes to us – and that’s why you’re a hero too, when you support JumpStart.

“The JumpStart programme laid the foundation for my future. If it wasn’t for JumpStart, I would not be where I am today.”  Alonso Chappel, store manager, Mr Price Sport Kenilworth

Whether you want to honour Supergirl or Springbok rugby hero Siya Kolisi, do the JumpStart Challenge in dress up.

“I challenge South Africans everywhere to join the JumpStart Challenge and be the heroes you were born to be! Every entry will support our youth on their journeys to gain skills and employment; and to become heroes in their households,” said Karen Wells, head of Mr Price Foundation.

With distances ranging from 3km to 100km, there’s something for every member of the family at the JumpStart Challenge. Holla Trails in Ballito is hosting the physical Challenge, with mountain bike events on 4 March and run/walk events on 5 March. If you can’t be there in person, join the virtual Challenge from 27 February to 5 March.

Prizes will be awarded to the most creative costumes at Holla Trails.  So, grab your treads, trainers and dare your colleagues, family and friends to dress up for a great cause.

Dress-up tips
We want you to have fun, feel good and look amazing – so follow our dress-up tips for the best experience:
* Comfort is key! Pick costumes that don’t cause chafing, overheating or restrict movement.
* The best paint is sunscreen! Face and body paint don’t agree with sweat and can cause overheating.
* Forget the hero mask! You need to breathe and see where you’re going.
