Amazing Grace wins a brand new Nissan Micra through divine intervention.

As the lucky winner of MRP Foundation’s Win a Car competition, thirty-three-year-old Soweto resident, Grace Kola, was handed the keys to a brand new Nissan Micra on 4 April 2018. The mother of a 12-year-old boy was beyond amazed she won the car, which was sponsored by CMH Nissan Durban.
This was “divine intervention” for Grace, who has been unemployed for the past two months due to transport issues.
“I’ve been struggling to get a job and I kept losing job opportunities because I didn’t have a license and a car. I entered the competition on Facebook in the middle of the night and I prayed to God, telling him how much I really needed this car. I thought that time had run out for me to find a job,” said an ecstatic Grace.
According to Grace, she entered the competition incorrectly twice, but it was third time lucky for Grace, who entered with Twenty Rand given to her by a complete stranger. “God has answered my prayers. This is a breakthrough for me, as this vehicle is going to change my life,” she said with tears in her eyes.
The car keys were handed over at the official opening for the Ride for MRP Foundation’s 2018 edition. The 606km, two-day event supported by Absa, will take place on December 2-3, with cyclists riding from Johannesburg to Durban, in an attempt to raise R2 Million for the Foundation’s developmental programmes. The purpose of the Win a Car competition was to raise funds for the youth development programmes, including the Jump Start programme, which tackles the youth unemployment crisis, a dire situation Grace experienced firsthand.
Last year’s successful event saw a 50-strong peloton from diverse backgrounds including juniors, women, transformation cyclists and local sports champions along with Springbok Rugby Legends John Smit, Jeremy Thomson and Wayne Fyvie raise in excess of R870 000.
