“It is in your hands to create a better world” said Nelson Mandela. The MRP Foundation believes in Mandela’s vision and over the last ten years has rolled out nationwide programmes in education and skills development that impacts thousands of lives every day.
Inspired by the selfless life of Nelson Mandela the MRP Foundation is actively part of living out Madiba’s lifelong dream of making the world a better place.
Mandela followed three rules during his life: free yourself, free others and serve every day. The very liberties we all experience on a daily basis are part of his legacy in some way and it is our responsibility to both respect and play our part in enhancing these freedoms.
In 1995 Madiba expanded on this compassionate belief, his words still finding relevance today:
“The truth is that we are not yet free; we have merely achieved the freedom to be free, the right not to be oppressed. We have not taken the final step of our journey, but the first step on a longer and even more difficult road. For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
The MRP Foundation believes in his vision and over the last ten years has rolled out nationwide programmes in education and skills development that impacts thousands of lives every day. These programmes address some of South Africa’s social injustices and empower the next generation to continue the movement of doing good.
JumpStart is a job readiness programme for unemployed matriculants that aims to provide school-leavers with experiential training and life skills to enable them to enter the job market that much more prepared.
The YoungHeroes physical activity programme works at providing and encouraging a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise at 260 schools impacting 67 113 learners.
MRP TechEd aims to use technology as a tool to shift the learning trajectory of young South Africans and support the education system.
And the holistic education programme called RedCap Schools improves overall learner performance in five selected schools in a low-income community in KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal.
