Together with committed partners the 2017 edition of the Ride for MRP Foundation looks set to make a bigger impact than ever before.
The annual Ride for MRP Foundation supported by Absa, a punishing 606 km ride from Johannesburg to Durban (December 3 – 4), is growing from strength to strength through strong partnerships and a committed peloton who are passionately committed to raising funds and awareness for the MRP Foundation.
Over the years the annual fundraising challenge has steadily gained momentum, with this year’s edition boasting the largest peloton to date, consisting of fifty cyclists from a diverse range of backgrounds: masters, juniors, women, development riders as well as South Africa’s rugby legends, John Smit, Jeremy Thompson and Wayne Fyvie. The courageous cyclists will have to dig deep to push past their physical and mental limits to complete the challenging ride and in doing so support the ride with purpose.
As a fundraiser to help break the cycle of poverty and inequality in South Africa, the Ride for MRP Foundation has welcomed on board a passionate group of partners, including Futurelife who will be providing additional nutritional support for the peloton.
David Sweidan, General Manager of Business and Marketing for Futurelife, believes that:
“By partnering with like-minded businesses that share the same vision of making a difference in people’s lives we can unlock tomorrow’s potential. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to invest into communities and see the difference we can make together.”
Thanks to the dedicated cyclists who put their hands up for the worthy cause this year’s ride is on track to supersede previous editions and hopefully reach the fundraising supertarget of One Million Rand!
Funds raised will be channeled into the MRP Foundation’s education and skills development programmes that impact hundreds of thousands of youth. As a youth development organisation the MPR Foundation’s purpose is to empower South Africa’s youth to unlock their full potential.
